Award-winning undercounter solutions combine design, flexibility and ease of use.
Six refrigeration and freezing solutions from Liebherr have been recognised with the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award 2026. The award-winning models for both indoor and outdoor environments combine elegant design, exceptional convenience and flexible features that fit naturally into modern kitchens and living spaces.
From Household Appliance to Part of the Interior Design
There was a time when a refrigerator was simply a refrigerator. Today, the picture is very different. The kitchen has become the natural gathering place of the home, while terraces, conservatories and outdoor kitchens increasingly serve as seamless extensions of indoor living. This development places new demands for the products we surround ourselves with. They must, of course, perform flawlessly, but they must also complement their surroundings and contribute to a more flexible and comfortable everyday life. It is precisely this approach that has now earned Liebherr international recognition at both the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award 2026.
At the iF Design Award, the SUFNPc 365i undercounter freezer and the URPc 375i and URPd 365i undercounter refrigerators were honoured. Meanwhile, the URDd 375i undercounter refrigerator as well as the UORpr 366i and UORpr 365i outdoor refrigerators received a Red Dot Design Award. These two awards are among the world's most prestigious design honours and recognise products that successfully combine design, innovation and functionality. What unites the award-winning models is a shared ambition to create solutions that integrate naturally into modern homes. Whether installed in the kitchen, at a home bar or in an outdoor kitchen, the focus remains the same: outstanding convenience, thoughtful details and flexible usability.
iF Design Award for Thoughtfully Designed Undercounter Solutions
Three integrated undercounter models from Liebherr received the iF Design Award 2026:
- SUFNPc 365i freezer
- URPc 375i refrigerator
- URPd 365i refrigerator
The jury particularly highlighted the design concept, which combines discreet integration with practical features that make a real difference in everyday life. Among the features are fully extendable drawers on telescopic runners, a soft-close function and an intuitive Touch & Swipe display that makes daily operation simple and enjoyable. The SmartDevice feature also enables digital connectivity. In the freezer, VarioSpace provides additional flexibility by making it easy to adapt storage capacity to changing needs. The result is a range of solutions where functionality and aesthetics are designed as one cohesive experience.
Designed for the Way We Live
One of the most noticeable housing trends today is the increasingly blurred distinction between indoor and outdoor living. Outdoor spaces are no longer used only during the summer months. Instead, they are becoming places for cooking, socialising and spending time together throughout much of the year. This trend is reflected in the models that received the Red Dot Design Award 2026:
- URDd 375i refrigerator
- UORpr 366i outdoor refrigerator
- UORpr 365i outdoor refrigerator
The two outdoor models are designed for year-round use, with operating temperatures ranging from -10°C to +32°C, IPX4 protection against water splashes, and a 107-litre capacity. At the same time, they offer the same user-friendly features and level of convenience found across Liebherr's undercounter range. Users can therefore enjoy the same quality and flexibility, whether the appliance is installed in the kitchen or on the terrace.
VarioCool Provides Greater Everyday Flexibility
Among the award-winning models is the URDd 375i, developed with flexible storage in mind. The refrigerator features two VarioCool drawers, each of which can be individually adjusted between 0°C and +14°C. This creates the opportunity to establish two separate temperature zones within the same appliance and adapt them according to changing needs. For example, one drawer can be used as a temperate storage zone for bread and potatoes, while the other can be set to a lower temperature for salad, crisp fresh apples and other foods that benefit from cooler conditions. The drawers can also be adapted for beverages, snacks or other ingredients whenever needs change.
To ensure optimal storage conditions in both zones, the URDd 375i is equipped with DuoCooling, which uses two separate cooling circuits to prevent air exchange between the drawers. Temperature, humidity and aromas remain separate, helping food stay fresher for longer without drying out or absorbing odours from other ingredients. At the same time, FlexSystem and FlexBox contribute to a clear and organised interior, making it easy to adapt storage space to different everyday needs. The combination of flexible temperature control, intelligent organisation and optimal storage conditions provides greater freedom in daily life, better use of available space and reduced food waste.
Experience the Award-Winning Solutions in Eventyrlig Oppussing
The award-winning Liebherr solutions are not only impressing international design juries. They can also be experienced in practice in the current season of Eventyrlig Oppussing, where functionality, aesthetics and thoughtful details play an important role in the completed home renovation projects. In the episode from Frette, Norway, the finishing touch to the outdoor kitchen was the UORpr 366i Prime outdoor refrigerator, designed for year-round outdoor use. In Nautsdal, the choice fell on the URDd 375i Prime undercounter refrigerator, whose flexible layout and adaptability support modern ways of using the kitchen.
Together, the two solutions illustrate the same development reflected in this year's design awards: modern refrigeration appliances are no longer simply intended to store food and beverages. They are designed to become a natural part of the environments where people cook, gather and spend time together.
Eventyrlig Oppussing is available to watch on Viaplay.
More Than a Design Award
For Liebherr, great design is about more than appearance. It is equally about how a product performs in practice and how naturally it fits into everyday life. That is why these awards represent more than a single product launch. They also reflect a broader development in which refrigeration and freezing solutions are becoming an increasingly integrated part of home design and the way people use their living spaces. With both the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award 2026, Liebherr receives recognition for products that combine user-friendliness, flexibility and timeless design across kitchens, living spaces and outdoor environments.
