This year marks 75 years since Tove Jansson wrote the first Moomin story about the quirky creatures that would later become perhaps Finland's most famous contribution to world literature: the Moomins.
The Moomin is a sweet fellow who lives in the colorful and safe Moominvalley with his family. A quirky little troll creature without a face, but with wide eyes and a hippopotamus-like snout. Tove Jansson's fantastic tales of the small, lovable fantasy creatures can be seen as a reflection of the world as it is: beautiful, uncomplicated, eerie, and transient.
